The Craft Camp in Kawada.(Sabae Fukui)
You can take a special experience to exchange feeling in the local village『satoyama』!
To those foreigner, student(ryugakusei),Japanese(retired person) in Japan who speak Japanese and English and are interested in connecting people through your knowledge of languages this summer.
The area is a famous place where make of eye glasses,Japanese lacquer,and traditional culture,village(satoyama).
The Kawada Craft Camp

is looking for international exchange member who would like to support interpreting between Japanese (craftman,student )and the artists from the Netherlands who are
participating in this camp.
The Kawada Craft Camp is held annually in Kawada (Sabae City, Fukui prefecture), and aims to connect (art) students, Dutch artists and local people through the exchange of knowledge on local crafts. As a international exchange member you are able to participate in the Craft Camp together with the other participants, learning about local culture and crafts, while supporting with interpreting and translating at the same time.
Participating in this camp may be a wonderful opportunity to learn about Japanese regional culture and to polish your language skills at the same time, thinking on how you can convey this culture to the Dutch participants. Also, it may be an enriching experience to connect the ideas of the Japanese local craftsmen to that of the Dutch artists, which may bring forth a fresh look on this regional culture.
Do you have free time in the period August and September and are you interested in joining this camp as a international exchange member? 「里山＝SATOYAMA」・日本の原風景が広がる田舎【Deep Japan】をフィールドに、
オランダ人と伝統工芸の職人さんをつなぐ、異文化交流・コミュニケーションのサポートをしてくださるメンバーを募集します！
「河和田アートキャンプ」は、漆器（漆）、眼鏡フレームの産地である
福井県・鯖江市「河和田：Kawada village」を拠点に、地元の住民と全国から自主的に集まる学生たちが協働活動を行いながら、地域文化や伝統工芸に触れる活動です。
今回は、海外の方、留学生、英語のできる日本の方を対象に職人の技、地域の有形無形文化などに触れながら、異文化交流して頂けるプログラムを設けます。

開催：8 月1 日～ 9 月20 日
制作：8 月1 日～ 9 月18 日
展示：9 月19・20 日

クラフトコース
ⅰ：漆職人（塗り or 沈金 or 蒔絵）
ⅱ：木工職人 ( 箱もの or 丸もの）
ⅲ：眼鏡職人（メガネフレーム）
